Perhaps the Holy Bible will help to better illustrate the point I'm attempting to make here.
On Sun. , 20 th Jan , 2008, the MTN 26th Africa Cup of Countries , dubbed Ghana 2008 started in the major city of Accra. The contest would be running in 4 towns, particularly Accra, Kumasi, Sekondi and Tamale till tenth Feb , 2008. The object of this piece is to try and review the grand launch Rite of the event, where Ghanaian culture was planted like a flourishing rose flower in the centre of the earth for humanity to behold, relish and love. It was wonderful and "extraordinaire" as the French will say.
First of all, Ghana and actually Africa must be proud that there are voters of the continent whose creativity is beyond imagination.
The list of Ghana's casinos is reasonably short : not a shock for a poor African country. It was actually the first African country to shake off colonialism in 1957, controlled by Kwame Nkrumah. The subsequent thirty or so years were the common struggle against the business incompetence of the diverse rulers, including the almost conventional army coup.
Still, that kind of earnings doesn't support a flourishing gaming industry, so as we are saying, the list of Ghana's casinos is still quite short.
In fact, there are 4 in the whole country.
While there are both gold mining and timber sales as industries in Ghana, most of the people and almost all of the economy relies on subsistence ( or peasant ) farming. This is one reason why the list of Ghana's casinos is so short.
In fact, for a lot of the area's history there have truly only been 2 exports : slaves ( The Ashanti Dominion was a prime source for the Arab slavers long before whites reached the area ), and gold : indeed, the country still boasts one of the biggest mines and gold firms in the world, again named after the traditional dominion, Ashanti. Now it is few folk and huge numbers of awfully costly machines.
So, there are the reasons why the list of Ghana's casinos is so short.
First, the chopper that flew Ghana State Flag across the stadium symbolizes that we are all Ghanaians first before any other ethnic consideration. Unless they are some synthetic plastic improvisation, I might imagine that there would no more be elephants in the Bole State Park at Bole in the Northerly area or in other forest reserved in Ghana. Horns are used to proclaim the take off an event. So, the hundred horn blowers at the opening rite were symbolically saying to the Africa and the remainder of the world the 26th copy of the illustrious African Cup of Countries was going to start in Ghana, so that the complete globe must be wary and prepared to embrace the event. Again, symbolically, Ghana thru the opening ceremony was radiating Light, Life and like to all corners of the world.
Here's a neat page on the theme of vacation
